Hypnosis for Weight Loss

Obesity in the United States has become an epidemic in recent years. Obesity and its effects lead to 120,000 deaths per year. It is estimated that about half of the adult population are overweight. Of these, a good half, that is, somewhere around 25% of the population are obese (BMI index – height to weight ratio> 30). According to the National Institute of Health, the number of obese children has doubled over the past 20 years. According to scientific data, the risk of mortality increases by 1% for every pound of overweight ((0.45 kg) between the ages of 30 and 42 and 2% in the age group of 50 to 62.

Among the many causes of increased weight, overeating and lack of exercise are often mentioned. It is also important that with all of us hormonal balance changes with age. So, in men after 40, a progressive deficiency of testosterone and its conversion to estrogen leads to a very rapid deposition of fat around the abdomen. In women, similar external changes occur due to thyroid dysfunction.

What do weight control experts offer? First of all, a medical examination, including blood tests for hormones and the correction of hormonal deficiency, if any.

You must include in your diet the so-called nutritional supplements – omega 3, chromium, magnesia, which ensure the proper absorption of carbohydrates. Mandatory addition to the menu of the so-called fiber (fiber), and before each meal and drinking plenty of water. It is advisable to start the morning with oatmeal porridge , as it turned out this is the best and most useful fiber. It was from oatmeal that they isolated and learned to artificially produce an appetite blocking substance.

What can professional hypnotherapy offer to acquire harmony? It’s not strange, but a lot. Do not forget that no matter what we do, everything is controlled by our subconscious, “autopilot” of our intelligence. For example, when driving a car, we, turning right or left, do it automatically, talking or, approaching a destination, we do not remember at all the details of our trip and there are plenty of such examples. Our whole life is 88% subconscious, if you think about it. So, here, our habits are also subconscious. Try, just like that, without the willpower, to give up a cigarette after eating if you smoke, or suddenly change your walk by which you are recognized from afar, or deny yourself the pleasure of drinking coffee in the morning. And food, in general, is a classic example of subconscious habits.

So our whole life associates food with pleasure, reward, satisfaction.

Habit? Habit, and even what, yes, also subconscious, that is, automatic.

And, therefore, it is possible to act on it, on this habit, only through the subconscious, by special methods, verbal codes. That is, with the help of hypnosis, therapy of subconscious thinking.

Not without reason, numerous scientific data confirm that the addition of hypnosis to any psychotherapy significantly accelerates weight loss. Statistics say about 97% success during treatment and about 146% after.

What are the mechanisms of hypnosis?

 There are several of them:

1.conscious training and maintaining a healthy diet;

2. Strengthening the motivation for a long diet;

3. retraining of the subconscious mind to control fatty and excess food;

4.creation of a subconscious new and desired image and so on.

And finally, if there is still doubt: the latest data from an independent group of Harvard scientists after comparing 4 different diets suggests that no matter what diet you follow, it matters how long. And to change motivation and ensure the success of weight loss is possible only with the help of hypnosis.

In a 9-week study of two weight management groups (one using hypnosis and one not using hypnosis), the hypnosis group continued to get results in the two-year follow-up, while the non-hypnosis group showed no further results (Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985).

In a study of 60 women separated into hypnosis versus non-hypnosis groups, the groups using hypnosis lost an average of 17 pounds, while the non-hypnosis group lost an average of only .5 pounds (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1986).

In a meta-analysis, comparing the results of adding hypnosis to weight loss treatment across multiple studies showed that adding hypnosis increased weight loss by an average of 97% during treatment, and even more importantly increased the effectiveness POST TREATMENT by over 146%. This shows that hypnosis works even better over time (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1996).
